American Red Cross

Deshler Public Schools will be offering both FAST (First Aid for Severe Trauma) and Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED courses to ALL of our 7-12 students in the 22-23 school year.  High school students will have the opportunity to become certified in ALL areas at a cost of only $5 per student for First Aid/CPR/AED, while the school received a grant for all 9-12 students to become FAST certified.  Junior high students will receive basic instruction, but will not have an actual certification.

Upon successful completion of these courses (offered during HOME ROOM), students will receive a valid 2-year Red Cross digital certificate that is OSHA compliant and meets other workplace and regulatory requirements.  This is an outstanding opportunity for our students to recognize an emergency and gain the confidence to act.  Students will also be learning how to use the AED located outside of our gym doors.

Recognizing the signs and symptoms of shock, asthma attack, anaphylaxis, heart attack, overdoses, diabetic emergencies, and more, as well as knowing how to control life-threatening bleeding and the use of a commercial tourniquet (or making their own) are just a few of the first aid techniques that our students will receive knowledge and certification on.  Saving lives starts here...at DPS...in the Fall of 2022.
