The Wizard Of Oz Comes Back To Deshler

Bringing back the classic, Deshler High School is performing the musical rendition of the one of the first color films, The Wizard Of Oz. Based on the 1939 film, Dorothy (Brenna Dubbert) must find her way to Emerald City with her dog Toto (Jordyn Gausman) and her new friends Scarecrow (Chloe Mosier), Tinman (Jenna Lemke) and Lion (Kara Kniep). They seek the help of the Wizard of Oz (Brendan Rios). Glinda, the Witch of the North (Sena Petersen), helps them evade the Wicked Witch of the West (Kaylee Jo Reinke).

This rendition of The Wizard Of Oz follows closely to the story written by Frank L. Baum in 1900. With music and lyrics of the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, this musical has all of the classic songs you know and love like Over the Rainbow, We’re Off to See the Wizard, and The Merry Old Land of Oz.

You won’t want to miss the Deshler Music Department’s version of this great classic. Performances are scheduled for Friday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 13th. Watch the school app, Journal-Register, the Lair, and Deshler Music Department Facebook page for more information.
