Connie Porter is returning to the educational setting, and those of us who have worked with her before are beyond thrilled!
Mrs. Porter earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education and her Masters in School Counseling from UNK. She has been in education for 40 years and was a school counselor for 27 of those years, several at Lawrence/Nelson working alongside Mrs. Epley!
Mrs. Porter and her husband, Doug, have been married for 45 years. They have four children and six grandchildren. Their grandchildren's ages range from four months to 14 years.
In her free time, Mrs. Porter enjoys reading, traveling, and going to sporting events -- especially her grandchildren’s activities -- and Royals' baseball games. She also loves spending time with friends and family.
Mrs. Porter is most excited about guiding students as they discover their strengths, explore career paths, and make confident decisions about their futures. Helping them understand what’s possible—and supporting them as they transition from high school into the workforce, college, or the military—is incredibly meaningful to her!
Help us welcome Mrs. Porter to Deshler...I can assure you that you won't be disappointed with her help in the area of college and career readiness! Mrs. Porter will be part-time while Mrs. Kane will be returning to our Youth Outreach Specialist position. We will also have a licensed mental health therapist here two times a week here in the 26-27 school year. And finally, best of luck to Mr. Thomas as he continues on in education!
