School Supply Lists & Back to School Info

It's that time of year...school supply shopping!

Please note that all K-8 students (and any other students in PE) will need to have PE shoes! These don't need to be new, but they do need to be free from rocks & debris.
Also, all 7th-12th students need ear buds, a calculator and a stylus
(for writing on their new touch screen laptops).

New student registration will be held on
Wed., Aug. 2nd from 8 AM - 11:30 AM and from 12:30 - 3:30 PM.

NSAA SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR GRADES 7-12 ARE DUE BY 8/1/23:  Please drop these off at the school on the 2nd during new student registration if you miss the 8/1/23 deadline!

Deshler Public Schools requires that all students in athletic programs have injury and accident insurance and encourages all students who are in classes at risk of personal injury or accident to have insurance coverage. Deshler Public Schools does not make recommendations nor handle the premiums or claims for any insurance company, agent, or carrier.   Information about student insurance providers will be available in the school office or on school bulletin boards.

Also, any students wanting to change their schedule should also come on Aug. 2nd to drop/add classes if those currently listed in PowerSchool are not correct.  You are also welcome to come prior to this by setting up a time with our new guidance counselor, Mrs. Heldt, at stacie.heldt@deshlerdragons.org if August 2nd doesn't work for you.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our Open House on Tuesday, August 15th.

Rundown on the night:

  • 4 PM:  Juniors and seniors in sports during the 23-24 will have their poster pictures taken.
  • 5 PM: Grades 7-12 students and parents wanting to eat the burger meal deal in the cafeteria should eat during this time (or visit classrooms).
  • 6 PM: ALL 7TH-12TH GRADE PARENTS are asked to attend the ValueUp speaker in the HS gym while your students go through the Open House and meet their teachers

ALL PAPERWORK should be signed and taken care of PRIOR TO this night.  Be looking for a link from Sarah Baden in the next couple of weeks to complete this.  Payments can also be dropped off ahead of time or there will be forms to complete and leave at the end of the night as well.  Computer insurance is highly encouraged for those in grades 7-12 as the laptops are new this year and repairs will be more expensive:

  • $15 for one student
  • $25 for two students
  • $35 for 3 or more students

The community hamburger feed sponsored by the school and served by the Lion's Club will be held on this night from 5-7 PM, but Kona Ice will NOT be here this year.
