Mrs. Moeller’s junior high students tried out a website last week that makes learning grammar a bit more interesting. The website called “noredink” gives students the opportunity to list and select favorite topics to practice their grammar skills. Students can put in names of their friends or pets, as well as select from a list of sports, television, and music choices to practice grammar related concepts.
The sentences are a bit silly at times, but they hold the students’ interest and allow the students to practice on concepts like apostrophes, capitalization, pronouns, and much more.
The “noredink” comes from the fact that students receive immediate feedback on their practice sentences and even have multiple opportunities to try to get the correct answer. This website is very versatile allowing Mrs. Moeller to assign specific assignments to individual students so not everyone has to work on the same thing, and track each student’s progress.
The website was warmly welcomed by the junior high students as a new option to make grammar practice a little more bearable.
