June 1 - Learn and Work Scholarship

Over the last eight years Sheridan Lutheran Church, The Lincoln Journal Star and HiMark Golf Course have sponsored the “Learn and Work Scholarship.”  The Learn and Work Scholarship is a $4,000 per year scholarship which helps students afford post-secondary education.  The Learn and Work Scholarship was started by a family with a vision to make a difference in the lives of young people.  The vision for this scholarship is to reach students who truly have a financial need.  Moreover, it seeks to reward those students who have endured much, overcome many obstacles, and who trials in life have focused their vision for their future.  Two interesting components of the Learn and Work Scholarship are that students will likely have their $4,000 award renewed for all four years if they remain in good standing at their school.  Students also are expected to give back to the community by serving 75 hours of documented community service within an organization of their choice over the course of the year.  You may visit http://sheridanlutheran.org/events/learn-work-scholarship/ for more information.
