Rank in Class and Grading System:
Class rank and GPA are computed twice yearly in grades 9-12 at the conclusion of each semester.   All students are included in class rank, and all courses (with the exception of Driver’s Education, Desktop Publishing, and Teacher Aide) are included in the cumulative GPA.  The total grade points earned are divided by the total credits attempted.

Graduation Requirements:
In order to graduate from Deshler High School, students in grades 9-12 must complete 230 credits and attend classes regularly for 8 full semesters.  (Classes meeting 5 days a week for 2 semesters earn 10 credits.)   

The following minimum requirements have been established by the Deshler School Board for issuance of the Standard Diploma and the College Preparatory Diploma.

Standard Diploma:
Social Science--World Geography, American History, and American Government/Economics
Language Arts--English I, English II, either English III or General Composition/Creative Writing, and English 12    
Science--Physical Science and Biology
Business--
Computer Applications
Physical Education/Health--
10 credits, including 5 credits in either Health/PE or PE/Health
Mathematics--
30 credits, including Algebra
Vocational Education and/or Visual or Performing Arts--
10 credits, including Art I or Drafting
Electives--
80 credits  

College Preparatory Diploma: 
Social Science
--World Geography, American History, and American Government/Economics
Language Arts--
English I, English II, English III, and College Preparatory English
Science--
Physical Science, College Preparatory Biology, and 20 credits in either Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Advanced Biology, or Environmental Science
Business--
Computer Applications
Physical Education/Health--
10 credits, including 5 credits in either Health/PE or PE/Health
Mathematics--
Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and Functions/Statistics/Trigonometry (FST)
Foreign Language--Spanish I and Spanish II

80 credits, including 20 credits in either Precalculus/Discrete Math (PDM), Accounting, Advanced Computer Applications, or another science; 10 of these credits must be in math or science
