What Is Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a daily progress monitoring software assessment for books that children read.

Elementary Program

The students belong to clubs based on their total point accumulation. The students get incentives throughout the year to encourage them to continue to read.

How does Accelerated Reader work?

  • The student picks a book out appropriate to their reading level and one that is of interest to them.
  • He or she reads the book.
  • Takes a test on the computer.
  • The student has to get a least a 70% on the test in order for it to be considered passing.
